Landscape & Yard Waste Disposal Options
Curbside Yard Waste & Tree Disposal
Keeping our community clean and safe starts with proper disposal of yard waste. Please review the following guidelines before placing items at the curb.
Yard Waste
- Small waste (leaves, grass, weeds, small branches, shrubbery): Place in clear yard bags only.
- Collection schedule:
- Garbage Days: Clear bags are collected only if an unused Plantation blue garbage bag is tied to each clear bag.
- Bulk Pick-Up Days: Clear bags may be set out without attaching blue bags.
- Important: Black trash bags are not allowed and will not be collected. Violations may result in a Code Enforcement notice.
Palm Fronds
- Automated Cart: Palm fronds must fit entirely inside.
- Curbside: Up to five (5) fronds, each no longer than 6 feet, may be placed out with blue bags for pickup.
Large Branches
- Must be tied into bundles.
- Size limit: 6 feet in length, 40 pounds in weight.
- Place bundles next to blue bags on garbage days.
Christmas Trees*
- Curbside Pickup:
- Trees under 6 feet: Place at the curb with blue bags.
- Trees over 6 feet: Cut in half before setting out.
- Drop-Off Option: Bring undecorated trees to the Public Works Transfer Station (750 NW 91st Avenue), Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Recycling Benefit: All drop-off trees are chipped into mulch, free for residents at Public Works, PAL Park, and Seminole Park.
Horticultural Recycling Center
Residents may also drop off yard waste at the Horticultural Recycling Center (750 NW 91st Avenue, off Cleary Blvd.).
- A nominal fee applies.
- For accepted materials and fees, see the Horticultural Recycling Center page.
Code Enforcement Reminder
Black bags and items left on the swale outside of collection rules will result in a citation from Code Enforcement.
