City Administration reminds residents of the following Bulk Pick-Up Guidelines:

What is bulk waste? Appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpets/padding, yard waste and other large household items — anything too big for a blue solid-waste bag or a roll-out cart.

• Limit: 15 cubic yards per pickup (about the size of a VW Bug).
• Not accepted as bulk: Construction debris or loose construction materials.
• When to place items: Place your items curbside no earlier than the Saturday before your scheduled pickup date, and no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of your collection.
  This helps ensure your items are collected on time and keeps neighborhoods clean and organized.
• Yard waste: Use clear yard bags only for small yard debris and leaves. Tree trimmings and palm fronds must be cut and tied in 6-foot lengths. No stumps or logs.
• Bags & carts: Items that fit in a Plantation blue solid-waste bag should go out on your regular trash day in a blue bag or cart. Black bags with bulk or other items will not be picked up.
• Residential only: Waste Management will collect only bulk waste generated by the residence. Commercial or landscaper waste is not permitted.
• Appliances with Freon: Refrigerators, air conditioners and other Freon-containing appliances must have Freon removed and an approved sticker attached before placing curbside.
• Electronics: No electronics at curb — take them to a recycling drop-off location.
• Separation & placement: Separate bulk types on the swale (appliances, yard waste, other items). Keep piles away from mailboxes, trees, power poles, fire hydrants, fences, street signs and storm drains to avoid damage and speed collection.
• Glass & fragile items: Mirrors, glass tabletops, window panes, etc., will be picked up only if placed in a rigid container. Broken glass must be secured and clearly marked “GLASS.”
• Contaminated piles: If unacceptable items are mixed in, the pile will be considered contaminated and will not be collected.

Unacceptable items will not be moved in order to collect the proper items. If this should occur, the pile will be considered contaminated and will not be picked up.

• Household goods, such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, large toys
• Carpeting: flattened and tied with a heavy cord into bundles not to exceed 50 lbs
• Tree trimmings: cut into 6 ft lengths not to exceed 50 lbs
• Clear bags of yard debris – shrubs, leaves, grass, weeds, etc.
• Water heaters, toilets, vacuum cleaners
• Refrigerators (with Freon properly removed)
• Limited to 15 cubic yards per pickup (approximately the size of a VW Bug)

Unacceptable Items

• Batteries
• Black Bags
• Chemicals
• Concrete including bricks or pavers
• Contractor generated waste
• Drywall
