The Plantation Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy is a key component of our community-oriented policing philosophy. This free program offers city residents a behind-the-scenes look at the police department through demonstrations, lectures, and discussions.

Each session is led by experts in various fields, allowing participants to engage with representatives from the Command Staff, Community Engagement Unit, Detective Bureau, Training Unit, and specialty units like the SWAT Team, Traffic Unit, and K-9.

The Citizens Police Academy has successfully bridged the gap between police and the community, fostering teamwork to maintain a high quality of life in Plantation. The academy is offered two times a year and includes 27 hours of instruction over nine weeks.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and complete an application.
