“Vacation Rental” means any dwelling unit, or group of dwelling units in a condominium or cooperative, or any individually or collectively owned single-family or multi-family house or dwelling unit that is rented in whole or in part to guests more than three times in a calendar year for periods of less than 30 days or one calendar month, whichever is less, or which is advertised or held out to the public as a place regularly rented to guests, but that is not a timeshare project.

The City of Plantation recognizes two different types of vacation rentals:

  • A Hosted Vacation Rental is one in which the property owner permanently resides at the property and possess a Homestead Exemption with the Broward County Property Appraiser for the address.
  • A Non-hosted Vacation Rental is one in which the property owner does not permanently reside at the property and/or possess a Homestead Exemption with the Broward County Property Appraiser for the address.
