Broward County Building Safety Inspection Program
The Broward County Administrative Provisions of the Florida Building Code has established a Building Safety Inspection Program for buildings 25 years old or older; subsequent inspections required every ten (10) years thereafter, regardless of when the previous inspection report was finalized or filed.
For complete details and/or to obtain the required forms, please visit https://www.broward.org/CodeAppeals/Pages/SafetyInspectionProgram.aspx
If/when the Building Safety Inspection Program affects your property, the City of Plantation Department of Building Safety will send the property owner, association, management company and/or duly authorized representative a letter via certified mail, which will include the Record ID (BDCERT*) # assigned. The letter will provide information on what steps to take thereafter.
Please be aware that all required documentation for this program is to be submitted electronically; the Narrative and Safety Inspection Reports shall be digitally Signed & Sealed in order to be validated.
In order to submit your documents, you shall complete BOTH steps below:
- Register for an online account; please visit Accela Citizen Access (ACA) and click Register (located at the top right of the screen) to get started.
- Once you receive the email that you have successfully registered, please forward said email to Pamela Ellis at pellis@plantation.org requesting to connect said account to the applicable Recertification record; be sure to include the assigned BDCERT #. This will be required in order for you to access and upload the required documents for this program.
For more information regarding the Building Safety Inspection Program, please email pellis@plantation.org or call 954-414-7840.
