CHANGE IS GOOD!  PLANTATION MIDTOWN PROJECT UPDATE

Plantation is certain a City on the move!  Throughout Plantation, there are so many new development and redevelopment projects underway, and we would like to keep you updated just a few.

The City’s first mixed-used project, Veranda, is complete, and includes Publix, four restaurant options, financial institutions and personal services, flanked by 217 beautifully designed condominium units.  Veranda is located at 600 North Pine Island Road.

Three exciting new mixed-use projects are on the horizon, each bringing new retail and restaurant options to Plantation.  One Plantation Place (1347 South University Drive), has submitted plans to the City for review for a development which includes multi-story apartments, retail shops, and restaurants.  Residents at the Fountains (located directly behind the Fountains Shopping Center) have applied for building permits to construct a 478 unit apartment building.  Preliminary plans for 321 North (321 North University) have been submitted to the City to redevelop the former Fashion Mall as a mixed use project including multi-story office, restaurants and retail.

Office space and medical services are also seeing change.  Westside Medical Office Complex is scheduled to be redeveloped later this summer which (301 NW 84th Avenue).  The Cornerstone office complex (1270 South Pine Island Road) is currently leasing office space and nearing full capacity.

Finally, roadway and greenway improvements including American Expressway, NW 82nd Avenue, and East-West Transit Greenway began in 2005 and are progressing today, and Plantation Midtown wayfinding and identification sign program is in progress. Additionally, in 2008, a Park and Ride Feasibility Study will be being conducted to assess the existing conditions and future needs relating to land uses, transportation, public transit, and parking.
