Citizen Police Academy: This 8 week course is free of charge and open to adults and children over 13 years of age who live, work or have an affiliation with the city of Plantation. The course includes a K-9 demonstration, firearms safety and tour of the range, information on the Explorer program, gangs and organized crime, crime scene investigation and forensics, participation in a D.U.I scenario, viewing a robbery scenario, and much more. Not only does this create a partnership between the public and the Police Department and its operations, but promotes an interest in young adults who are looking to pursue a career in law enforcement. Space is limited and Refreshments will be served. Mature Drivers Course: Coaching the Mature Driver: Do you want a reduction on your insurance? Or do you just need a refresher course in basic defensive driving? This class is geared toward the senior community to accomplish all three goals. The cost for the one-time, half day session is $11.00. Classes are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month.
Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.): This worthwhile organization for people 50 years of age or older not only performs many service projects for the City of Plantation, but is an active and social, group as well. Want to have fun meeting other seniors and do some good for your community? Then come to the S.A.L.T. meetings! There is no membership fee and we meet every 3rd Thursday of the month. A free breakfast is served at 9 a.m., with the meeting from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Gun Locks: The Plantation Police Outreach Center distributes free gun-locks for every weapon you own.

The Citizen Outreach Center is accepting non perishable food items and also collecting new toys for the upcoming holiday season. You may drop them off anytime during business hours.
