The City of Plantation is proud to once again host the USTA Girls 14 National Clay Court Championships, the premier clay court tournament for girls 14 years old and under. An invitational field of 192 players from around the country will meet in Plantation during the week of July 15-22, 2007.
Thanks to our Valued Sponsors
Sponsorships at all levels help ensure a safe, well-run event. In addition to providing a world-class facility for the competition, the City must provide umpires, on-site medical personnel, assistance with food and lodging for players and their families, and entertainment during off hours. Your Sponsorship will help offset the costs of these and other expenditures. Additionally, sponsorship monies raised last year helped fund free satellite tennis clinics at Jim Ward Community Center, introducing this exciting sport to children who otherwise would not have the chance to participate. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund scholarships to help send deserving kids to college.
Community Partnerships
After four years of fund raising, solicitation efforts are so successful, that the Tournament Committee is able to feed money back into the community. In the past year alone the tournament has funded:
- Free children’s tennis clinics at Jim Ward Community Center
- $3,000 in scholarships awarded to four Plantation High School seniors
- Tennis-related purchases for the Frank Veltri Tennis Center, including a new ice machine, wind screens, ADA compliant water fountains, and shade structures for courtside benches.
- A partnership has been forged with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in which proceeds from the tournament are donated to their organization to help fund research and education in the fight against these diseases.
