CITY OF
SPECIAL CLASS INSTRUCTOR II
DEFINITION
This is
a non-exempt position, which is recreational and/or aquatics work of an
instructional nature in specialized activities.
An employee in this classification is responsible for providing
instruction on a part-time basis. Work
is performed under the direction of a Facility Manager and/or an Aquatics
Manager. The managers formulate the general policies, schedule
classes and assist in seeing that the activity is provided with adequate space
and necessary materials in order to attain the desired objectives.
EXAMPLES
OF WORK PERFORMED
Coordinates
and implements multiple programs of an instructional nature.
Develops
program proposals, makes facility reservations and performs program
evaluations.
Organizes
and instructs groups in specialized activities.
Works
closely with Facility Manager and/or
Aquatics Manager on the needs and evaluation of the program.
Maintains
discipline and enforces compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Maintains
and submits records of attendance.
Performs
related duties as required and as directed.
May
perform set up and break down of equipment for programs as needed.
Assists
in preparation and clean up of the aquatic facility in the event of major
storms.

Ability
to provide instructions to participants engaged in specialized activity.

to demonstrate good public relations skills.

to develop positive interest by leading groups in specialized activities.

municipal employees and the general public.

DESIRABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Certification
in the area of specialty. Prefer instructor level certifications in area of
specialty. Possession of Red Cross or equivalent adult CRP and AEO
certifications.
This is a
designated Will-Call Recovery classification in the Citys Emergency
Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work
for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System
(NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
