CITY OF
QUARTERMASTER
This is a non-exempt position, which is responsible technical and clerical work in the procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and services for the City’s Police Department.
An employee in this classification is responsible for the procurement of necessary supplies and equipment for all divisions within the Police Department and maintenance of appropriate inventory records regarding disbursement of said supplies and equipment. This employee exercises some independent judgment in maintaining sufficient inventory of expendable property. Work is performed under the supervision of the Property Manager to ensure conformance with established policies and procedures.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Ensures that employees are measured for uniforms; places orders; distributes uniforms and maintains inventory.
Ensures that employees are properly measured for bulletproof vests and orders are placed.
Orders and distributes uniform accessories.
Orders and distributes office supplies and maintains inventory.
Responsible for the acquisition of capital expenditures to include ordering and verification of delivery and inventory control.
Ensures that employees of the department follow the proper procedures and policies in the acquisition of supplies, materials and equipment.
Maintains security of City property under the Quartermaster’s control.
Performs related duties as required and as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of modern information systems and standard software application such as Windows, Word and Excel and the ability to learn new applications.
Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize work assignments and to work independently.
Ability to make a variety of arithmetic computations and calculations with speed and accuracy.
Ability to understand and follow instructions and to complete work assignments correctly.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other municipal employees, City officials and the general public.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a GED certificate from a recognized issuing agency, supplemented by additional course work in bookkeeping, purchasing or inventory control.
Experience in inventory control and general office work including typing and computer skills.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience or training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain, a
Florida driver’s license with an overall good driving record. No single suspension of driver’s license
within the past two (2) years and no more than two (2) suspensions within the
past five (5) year history (except if suspension was due to insurance error or
clerk of court error).
This is a designated “Will-Call Recovery”
classification in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and will require the
employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management
System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
