CITY OF
IT PC TECHNICIAN II
This is a non-exempt position, which is responsible technical work in the set-up and maintenance of desktop and laptop computers and trouble-shooting user issues. Work is performed with a minimum of supervision after completion of training.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Installs, configures and maintains PC hardware, peripheral and application software.
Executes proper programs for scheduled tasks and monitors processing, and makes necessary responses.
Observes, records and reports software and hardware problems to supervisor.
Assists departments on Microsoft Office Suite, and other application software, and implements training presentations to end users.
Performs backups for all department servers.
Assists in other daily operations as needed.
Performs related work as required and as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of and the ability to install, configure and maintain PC/server hardware, peripheral, network and application software.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 2000/XP.
Working knowledge of Network Protocols.
Ability to effectively troubleshoot PC hardware, software and peripheral and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Ability to learn software packages and software tools.
Ability to work with confidential data and maintain such confidence.
Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other City employees.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from a standard high school or an equivalent recognized certificate; a minimum of two (2) years experience in a technical position supporting PC hardware, peripheral and software A+ certification and LAN knowledge preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.

in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying
this position to work for declared emergencies.
Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the
appropriate level is mandatory.
