IT –DATABASE DEVELOPER I -
GIS
This is an exempt position, which is advanced technical work involving the implementation, administration and support of the City’s GIS database applications. An employee in this classification is responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise and web applications utilizing ArcGIS Server ArcIMS, SQL Server, Visual Studio, .NET and IIS, and database applications in a client/server environment.
Assists in the development, configuration, and support of SQL and Access databases.
Assists the City of
Performs upgrades and maintenance on City’s GIS servers.
Works with City users to troubleshoot and resolve GIS application problems.
Performs related duties as required and as directed.
Knowledge and experience using both desktop and server ESRI ArcGIS software products, including spatial data capture, conversion, and analysis, plus application of cartographic principles.
Knowledge and experience in an ArcGIS/IMS/SDE/Server and .NET object-oriented team environment that is integrated with SQL Server databases.
Knowledge and experience with ASP, ASP.NET, VB.NET, XHTML, JavaScript, T-SQL, and XML/XSL.
Knowledge of current web standards and best practices.
Ability to plan, design, conduct and oversee GIS programming and analysis projects.
Ability to effectively analyze and resolve client/server Database application issues.
Ability to assist and train City personnel in the use of Database applications.
Ability to effectively analyze and solve problems through a systematic and logical approach.
Ability to work with confidential data and maintain such confidence.
Ability to relate technical communication issues clearly, both orally and in writing, to non-technical individuals.`

Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, City officials and the general public.
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field, or any equivalent combination of education, experience or training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
This is a designated “Will-Call Recovery” classification in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
