CITY OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT COORDINATOR
This is an exempt position, which is responsible technical and administrative work in coordinating the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program and other related community development and housing programs. Work is performed under the general direction of the Principal Planner within the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Department.
Assist in developing and implementing the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; implement projects, oversee planning and construction projects.
Assist in developing and implementing other community development and housing related programs, as required. Responsibilities may include the implementation of state or federal grant programs related to community development and housing.
Prepares studies, projections, maps, reports and makes recommendations for community improvement projects.
Assists in identifying needed community development programs based upon existing inventory and projections.
Prepares and submits annual applications to HUD and other agencies, as required.
Assists in developing policy statements and maintain public records.
Serves as City representative on CDBG issues as necessary and attends meetings of various agencies and governmental groups as required.
Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Serves as liaison between civic groups, private and public agencies in Community Development related issues.
Performs related work as required and as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and objectives of Community Development Block Grant Programs.
Knowledge of HUD’s regulations regarding Community Development Block Grant Funds.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration as it relates to Community Development.
Knowledge of modern information systems, spreadsheets, data base management and software.

Ability to participate in complex studies, to analyze information and to formulate recommendations.
Ability to interpret laws, rules and regulations.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, City officials, state, local and federal agency representatives and the general public.
Bachelor’s degree in City Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field and considerable responsible Community Development experience.
This is a
designated “Recovery” classification in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan
and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared
emergencies. Attendance at National
Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is
mandatory.
