Accessibility in the City of Plantation

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), and related federal and state laws and regulations forbid discrimination against those who have disabilities. Furthermore, these laws require federal aid recipients and other government entities to take affirmative steps to reasonably accommodate the disabled and ensure that their needs are equitably represented.

The City of Plantation aims to provide full accessibility to our programs, services, and activities unless doing so changes the fundamental nature of the program, service or activity or it creates an undue administrative or financial burden.

For individuals who have a hearing or speech impairment, please call our City teletypewriter (TTY) phone number for assistance at 954-797-2100.  If you have any accessibility concerns, please email or call the City Clerk’s office at 954-797-2237 so that we can provide a solution or provide the information in an accessible format.

Website Accessibility

In order to further our commitment to non-discrimination, the City is also actively working on improving the accessibility and usability of our website in compliance with the latest commonly recognized standards including the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines, ADA accessibility standards, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines suggest best practices for overall user-friendliness and maximal accessibility to assistive technology users—such as screen readers for visual or hearing impairments.
