Educational Advisory Board
The Board of Adjustment consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Terms of office are for one year. A representative of the Department of Planning and Zoning attends the meetings to represent the City. The Board conducts administrative review of appeals and grants variances in relation to the City’s zoning code. The meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers.
The Planning and Zoning Board consists of seven members with six alternate members, appointed to one-year terms by the Mayor and City Council. Each elected official appoints one regular voting member and one alternate member. There is one rotating seat. The Director of Planning and Zoning or his designee attends the meetings. It is the Board’s responsibility to review land development regulations, codes and amendments, as defined in the Comprehensive Plan. The Board also considers conditional use approvals, rezoning applications, and commercial or multi family site plans, elevations and landscaping approvals. The meetings are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers.
Plantation City Council meetings are held every other Wednesday at 7:30 PM in City Hall Council Chambers, located at 400 NW 73rd Avenue, just off NW 5th Street. Periodically, meetings may be cancelled, or special meetings may be held as needed. Please call the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall to verify (954-797-2237).

The Plan Adjustment Committee consists of three members: the Director of Planning & Zoning, the Chief Building Official and a Council member who serves on a rotating basis. Representatives from the Zoning and Landscape departments attend in an advisory capacity. The Committee approves minor adjustments to site plan design and landscape approvals previously approved by City Council, or site plans that were approved by other governmental entities prior to the subject property’s annexation into the City, and plans detailing the proposed installation of satellite dish antennas. The meetings are generally scheduled on the second Thursday at 8:30 AM in the City Council Chambers unless notified otherwise.
