Street Tree Partnership Program: The City will pick out the perfect tree for your swale, share the cost and plant it for you! For more information please call the Department of Design, Landscape and Construction Management at 954-797-2652 or via email.
If you are ready to apply to receive a street tree, please fill out the Street Tree Request Form and fax it to 954-797-2793 or mail it to Suzee Newman, City of Plantation, Department of Design, Landscape and Construction Management, 400 Northwest 73rd Avenue, Plantation, FL 33317.
Trees for Tomorrow: This is a special opportunity for residents to celebrate achievements and special events, or honor and recognize someone special. Citizens can donate trees with plaques or benches with nameplates; the trees and/or benches are installed in a City park.
Arbor Day: This once-a-year event, which coincides with P.L.A.N.T. Awards, celebrates the importance of trees in our City, from both the environmental and aesthetic aspect. At this time, Plantation receives its Tree City USA certification, as well as its Silver Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.
P.L.A.N.T. Awards (Plantation Landscape Awards for Nurturing our Town): This is the City’s annual awards program to recognize properties that have exceptional landscape designs and maintenance programs.
TreeDay: Usually held in the fall, this is an educational opportunity to provide residents with information on plants, trees, landscaping and related topics.
Arbor Week: During this event, members of the Department of Design, Landscape & Construction Management visit schools, explaining the wonders of trees, urban forestry, landscape architecture and other related professions. We explore the school’s campus with the kids, looking at the wonders Mother Nature has provided us. The students get an opportunity to help plant a tree and are therefore afforded the opportunity to see the tree mature as they continue their education.
City of Plantation Shade Brigade: This is a great group of people interested in all aspects of horticulture, arboriculture, and landscaping. Come join us for our meetings on the 4th Thursday of each month. In addition to education, we take day trips and do planting projects. For more information, contact Suzee Newman, Urban Forester/Landscape Project Supervisor, at 954-797-2652 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
