Summer Camp Employment

The City of Plantation Parks and Recreation Department manages and runs summer recreation day camps full of fun and with a wide range of activities. The camp is staffed with paid employees in the following positions:

  • Program Supervisors
  • Assistant Program Supervisors
  • Counselors
  • Junior Counselors
  • Recreation Specialist.

Please refer to the City of Plantation’s Current Employment page to be able to apply online for the paid positions.  If this is the first time you are applying using our online job application, you will need to create a user account and password in addition to an online application with the City.   Please go to the following link to create your user account: Governmentjobs.com. If you have already created a NEOGOV account with another agency, you do not have to create a new account with us.   Your already created profile will work on our applicant system.  If you don’t have an e­mail account, you can sign up for free e­mail at Hotmail, Yahoo! Applicants under the age of 18 will need to submit a notarized “Emergency Medical Authorization for Those Under the Age of 18 Form” with their application.  This form can be completed, downloaded and attached to the application.  A link to this form is below:

LiveScan Fingerprint Process

If you are selected for a Summer Camp position, you may be required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process through private vendors.  For your convenience, we have selected Fieldprint Inc. for the fingerprint processing.  Please click here instructions for scheduling your appointment with Fieldprint Inc.: Schedule an Appointment with Fieldprint  The cost of the LiveScan process through Fieldprint is $63 and you, as the applicant, are required to pay that fee.

For Broward County School Board Employees, the City of Plantation can accept a clearance letter within the last 5 years, along with two (2) most recent paystubs from Broward County School Board. Employees must not have had a break in employment for more than 90 days within the last five years. Rehires from the 2017 Summer Camp Program who have worked for the Broward County School Board, had a clearance letter within the last 5 years and had no break in employment with the School Board, will only need to provide two (2) recent paystubs. Candidates will be provided further information upon processing for hire.

If you are being rehired you may not be required to go through the Fieldprint process again. An updated background screen will be obtained by the City of Plantation. Candidates will be provided further information upon processing for hire.

Counselor in Training Program

The City offers a Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) Program for high school students age 15.  C.I.T. participants are required to offset their participation costs.  The cost will be determined by the Parks and Recreation Department and is payable upon acceptance into the Program.  Applicants must complete and notarize the items attached to the application below:
