EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
 

Probationary Period
All new employees serve a one (1) year probationary period from date of hire.

Working Hours
Most full-time employees work 40 hours per week unless otherwise indicated.

Pay Check
Pay checks are issued bi-weekly every other Friday; Direct deposit of paycheck to any banking institution.

Insurance Coverage
Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment
Closest thousand to amount of Annual Salary (policy paid for by the City).

Hospitalization, Major Medical and Dental
Coverage fully paid for individual employee. Dependent Coverage:
Employee pays portion of cost.

Retirement - General Employees mandatory contribution is 8.5% of base pay. Normal Retirement Date: Age 55 and completion of 10 years of credited service.

Holidays - The City of Plantation observes eleven (11) paid holidays per year as declared by the City Council each year.

Personal Day - All full-time employees will be given the benefit of one (1) personal day per calendar year. Cannot be used until employed six (6) months; can not be carried over from one year to the next.

Sick Leave - 13 days per year. Accrues 4 hours at end of each bi-weekly pay period. Maximum accrual is 480 hours.

Annual Leave

1 - 5 years - 13 days per year
5 - 15 years - 19 ½ days per year
15 years or more - 26 days per year

Maximum Accrual is 240 hours. An employee is not entitled to use annual leave until employed 6 months.

Funeral Leave - 3 days

Jury Duty - Paid full salary - all fees received, excluding mileage must be turned into the City.

Educational Reimbursement - City reimburses 100% tuition and required books for pre-approved courses that obtain a grade [A or B; 75% for grade C].

Direct Deposit - Direct deposit of paycheck to any banking institution.
