The City of Plantation is constantly working toward improving our drainage system. These improvements will not only make our community safer in the event of a flood, but will also help reduce flood insurance premiums. In order to achieve these objectives, we need your cooperation.
Please refer to the following links in the event of an impending hurricane, tropical storm or notification of projected heavy rainfall. During extended periods of heavy rainfall, low-lying neighborhoods within the City are subject to floods and other hazards. This flood protection information is offered to help protect your property and reduce potential losses due to flooding. It will also help qualify Plantation residents and businesses for a discount on flood insurance provided through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
A new Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently went into effect for all of Broward County. The FIRM is used to make flood zone determinations for all properties within Broward County. Flood zone determinations are utilized by insurance carriers to set flood insurance premiums.
The City of Plantation Information Technology and Engineering departments have developed an online tool to make it easy for property owners in Plantation to research their property and obtain a printed flood zone determination letter from the convenience of their home or business. Visit the City’s GIS page, which will direct you to an interactive GIS map of Plantation. Follow the prompts to obtain your flood zone determination today!
For property owners without access to a computer, please contact the Engineering Department at (954) 797-2282 for a flood zone determination.
