Paul Scott, General Manager
Paul Scott is a Managing Partner in Guidant Management Group, Inc. (GMG), the management company hired to provide day-to-day operations and management of the golf course. In his position as General Manager for Plantation Preserve, Mr. Scott oversees all areas of golf operations including marketing, personnel management, turf-grass management and maintenance programs, fiscal planning including revenue and expense projections, facility value analysis and risk loss management. Prior to his position with Plantation Preserve, Paul Scott was the managing partner of Wellington Golf Club in Wellington, Florida. He has also held regional management and director positions with Scratch Golf Company at Jacaranda Golf Club in Ft Lauderdale and Baytree National Golf Links in Melbourne, Florida. With over 20 years of golf course management experience, Mr. Scott is well-versed in the daily operations of multi-course, daily fee, semi-private, and private equity facilities. Mr. Scott attended Stetson University, where he studied Business Administration. He is a PGA of America Class A member (A-9 Owner/Operator/Multiple Facilities). He and his wife, Marianne, currently reside in Plantation, Florida.
Randy Jacobson, Golf Course Superintendent
Randy Jacobson is originally from Savannah, Georgia and attended Austin Peay State University from 1973-1978. Randy is a member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA) and has 25 years experience as a golf course superintendent. During those years, he has served as golf course superintendent at the following courses: Jacaranda Golf Club (Plantation, FL), Hilton Head National (Bluffton, SC), LaVida Country Club (Savannah, GA) and Bacon Park Golf Course (Savannah, GA). Randy currently resides in Plantation, Florida with his son Matt and says he is very happy to be a part of this project and living back in South Florida.
Colleen Cashman-McSween, Membership & Marketing Director
Colleen Cashman-McSween began working for Plantation Preserve during the early construction stages of the golf course in December 2004 and currently handles the membership, marketing and administrative duties on a daily basis. Colleen grew up in the City of Plantation and attended St. Thomas Aquinas H.S. in Fort Lauderdale. After competing 3 years on her high school golf team, Colleen earned a college golf scholarship to Purdue University where she won two collegiate golf tournaments and received All-Big Ten Honors and Academic All-Big Ten Honors three years in a row. After graduating with a B.S. in Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional and Tourism Management, Colleen turned professional and went on to compete on the LPGA and FUTURES Tour over the next 7 years. During that time, Colleen competed in her first U.S. Women’s Open in Hutchinson, KS in 2002 and once again qualified for the most recent 2006 U.S. Women’s Open hosted in Newport, RI. In 2003, Colleen won her first professional golf tournament, the Next Generation FUTURES Golf Classic in Tampa, Florida. For the past 8 years, Colleen has also dedicated her time to coaching a very successful St. Thomas Aquinas High School girl’s golf team. Colleen was married in December 2003 to her husband David and currently resides in Tamarac, FL.
Brian Schuler, Head Golf Professional
Brian Schuler has been the Head Golf Professional at Plantation Preserve since August 2005. Before working at Plantation Preserve, Brian was most recently the assistant golf professional at Wellington Golf Club in Wellington, Florida. Brian is from Hopewell Junction, NY where he started his career as an assistant golf professional. Brian currently manages the day-to-day operations of the pro shop, organizes members’ golf tournaments and public golf outings, provides golf instruction to both members and non-members, adults and juniors and teaches a summer camp for the City of Plantation Summer camps. Brian attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York where he played twice in the junior college national championships.
Duncan Smith, Assistant Golf Professional
Duncan Smith has been the assistant golf professional at Plantation Preserve since July 2006. Before working at Plantation preserve, Duncan was the assistant golf professional at Westview Country Club in Miami. Duncan's job entails assisting in the running of the golf shop and outside operations as well as teaching golf to golfers of all abilities and ages. Duncan has recently enrolled in the PGA management program and looks forward to becoming a Class A head professional at a premier course in the United States. Originally from Manchester, England, Duncan came to Florida at the age of 18 and graduated from St. Thomas University with a bachelor’s degree in sports facility management in 2006. He was also golf team captain and Florida Sunshine Conference player of the year in 2005 and 2006. Duncan was recently married to his wife Nicole and they currently reside in Plantation.
Chris Stanko, Assistant Golf Professional
Chris Stanko is originally from Windsor, Ontario, Canada and has made his home in South Florida after accepting a golf scholarship to St. Thomas University in Miami some five years ago. Chris graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Sports Management. While attending St. Thomas University, Chris played varsity golf all four years and was recognized as a member of the All-Region Team in 2007 and the Florida Sun Conference Team in both 2006 & 2007. In his 2007 season, Chris had a scoring average of 73.0 and had one collegiate victory. Chris recently passed his PAT (Players Ability Test) and is eager to enter the PGA program on his way to becoming a Class A professional. Chris considers himself a student of the game and enjoys teaching and learning about the golf swing. Chris was recently engaged in September of this year to Christine Henderson and is looking forward to married life in August 2008.
Mason Byrne, Executive Chef (CEC)
Chef Mason is a rare Florida native who has lived all throughout the United States. He began his passion for cooking at age 11 when he worked for his parents at the local favorite Fosters Steakhouse in Boston. His love for cooking moved him to every part of the restaurant until attending culinary school in Seattle Washington at 17. The youngest in his class he quickly became the most noted after winning multiple cooking contests throughout the west coast. After attending his second school in West Palm Beach at the Florida Culinary Institute for International Baking and Pastry, Mason moved to Clearwater Florida to be Chef de Cuisine at the very popular Mystic Fish restaurant. Later as a favor to a longtime friend, Mason took over as Executive Chef/General Manager of the Tarpon Springs Yacht Club. The menu was redesigned and featured in local papers as one of the west coasts newest hidden hot spots. Now at the Plantation Preserve, Mason’s goal is to provide unique and different menu options not commonly found in the area. Banquets and buffets will be more exciting than ever and you can be assured all private party requests will be taken to heart and prepared as if you were family.
Shannon Maher, Director of Catering and Special Events
Shannon was born and raised on the West Coast of Florida but was drawn to the East Coast after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Marketing, Shannon handles day to day finances of the restaurant along with the sales and coordinating of all special events. You will see Shannon from the initial proposal through the planning stages to actually being on site at the event and she wants nothing more than to make your event a memorable success.
