The City of Plantation has become one of the most desirable communities in South Florida, thanks to its warm hospitality, stable, safe neighborhoods, world-class recreation facilities, beautifully landscaped parks and thoughtful mix of businesses. Here, you get an environment unparalleled in Broward County, professional, efficient government services, a lifestyle that is second to none, and a quality business mix that provides residents the services and products they need.
Plantation boasts six golf courses, including our newest, Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club, an 18-hole championship golf course, clubhouse and multi-use recreation trail, set among an Everglades-inspired wetland preserve – the first of its kind in the nation.
The City recently completed a multi-million dollar expansion project at our flagship recreation facility, Central Park, which includes two Olympic-size pools, a gymnasium and exercise room, basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, teaching classrooms, and the Frank Veltri Tennis Center, nationally recognized as one of the most comprehensive public tennis facilities in the nation.
In the western portion of the City, visitors can enjoy Volunteer Park. Located within 88 acres of protected wetland preserve are Plantation Equestrian Center, Camp Everglades educational tot lot, bridle paths, boardwalks and nature trails.
Residents enjoy tennis, water playgrounds, basketball and recreation classes at the Jim Ward Community Center, situated in the heart of the Park East neighborhood, in the eastern part of the City. Not far away are two neighborhood parks: the Multicultural Park, which includes a vibrant mosaic created by students from Plantation Elementary and Plantation High schools under the supervision of artist Beth Ravitz; and a brand new tot lot and recreation park located in the Country Club Estates neighborhood.
In Plantation’s Historic District, sign up for recreation classes suitable for all ages at the Kennedy Community Center or take a walk through the Botanical Gardens. You can also visit the Helen B. Hoffman Plantation Library, one of the few remaining municipal libraries left in Broward County. Next door is the Plantation Historical Museum, featuring permanent and traveling exhibits that showcase Plantation and Florida history. Just a few steps away is Plantation’s brand new Arboretum, an beautiful and educational display of trees, palms and other plants recommended for use in South Florida landscaping. Plantation’s entire park system is currently being linked via the City’s multi-use recreation trail (MURT) system.
Plantation offers a wide range of premier residential neighborhoods. No matter where you choose to live in Plantation, you get local shopping and great restaurants, excellent public and private schools, beautiful parks and recreation facilities, and proximity to the beach and downtown Fort Lauderdale.
If you are looking to relocate your business, Plantation offers one of the lowest tax rates in Broward County, a highly educated workforce and a City government that is committed to business development and well-managed growth. Proximity to the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades links your business to national and international markets, giving you a global edge over your competitors. These amenities and advantages are why national and international companies like Broadspire Services, DHL Worldwide Express, Precision Response Corporation and Equitrac have selected Plantation for their corporate headquarters.
The City’s business districts – Plantation Midtown, Plantation Gateway, and the Plantation Technology Park – offer an alternative to the congestion and fast pace of downtown. Within each District you will find a more refined environment with tree-lined streets, office buildings in a park setting, quality restaurants and hotel offerings to suit every price range and taste. Thoughtful details such as brick bus shelters, identification signs and signature landscaping, let you know you are someplace special.
As you can see, the City of Plantation is rich in amenities, a competitive business environment and a landscape not often found in South Florida communities. You will find an urban environment intermixed with a “hometown” lifestyle, achieved through thoughtful comprehensive planning and the vision and support of our City Council, staff and volunteer organizations.
