Climate Change Task Force Mission Statement

“To encourage sustainable practices in the City of Plantation by providing educational opportunities; reviewing existing city operations to ensure they have a positive benefit on the environment; providing environmentally responsible alternatives when needed; and striving to be role models whenever possible.    

Goals

  1. Develop programs and incentives to encourage employees to conserve resources (water, electricity, paper and fuel) within government operations.
  2. Educate and encourage Plantation employees, residents and businesses to participate in responsible environmental stewardship practices.
  3. Review existing policies and procedures to ensure that they do not negatively affect the environment and its natural resources.  If necessary, consider developing new policies and procedures that are more beneficial.
  4. Reach out to Plantation’s youth to create a new generation of environmental stewards.
  5. Identify state and federal grants, energy cost savings and other financial resources to offset program costs.
