PASSPORTS
Passport Processing Agency

The office of the City Clerk serves as a passport agency for the U.S. Department of State, Passport Services. Applications are processed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; appointments are preferred.

All parties are required to appear in person to apply for a U. S. Passport. For a first time passport, you will be required to submit an original birth certificate and (2) passport photos measuring 2” x 2” and picture identification. If you are a naturalized citizen, you will be required to submit your original naturalization papers in place of a birth certificate. The original birth certificate/naturalization certificate will be mailed along with your application.

If you are an adult (over 16 years of age) and have a passport that has been expired for more than 5 years, you must submit that passport in place of the birth certificate/naturalization certificate. These applications are available in our office and may be mailed directly to the Department of Passport Services. Children’s passports must be renewed in person.

After applying for a passport, the normal waiting period is 5-6 weeks. An expedited passport is available for an additional fee of $60, with a 2-3 week turnaround. Anyone needing a passport sooner than 2-3 weeks will be required to make an appointment in the Miami Passport Office by calling 305-539-3600 and listening to all instructions.

Fees

A first time passport for an Adult (16 and over) is $100.00; $75.00 in check to the Dept. of State and $25.00 application execution fee, payable to the establishment the customer chooses to go to. An adult passport is valid for 10 Years.

A first time passport for a Minor (anyone under 16) requires BOTH parents to be present as well as EACH MINOR CHILD and the fees are $85.00; $60.00 in check to the Dept. of State and $25.00 application execution fee, again payable to the establishment the customer chooses to go to. A minor child’s passport is valid for 5 years.

To Expedite a passport an additional fee of $60.00 is required.  This fee is added to the check payable to the Dept. of State.

Expedited service is a 3 week process; at acceptance facilities.

A “RUSH” passport, that is anyone having to travel in 14 days or less with proof of travel (ticket, eticket, itinerary, letter from an employer) can get a passport in hand or within 3 business days by making an appointment at a Regional Passport Agency.

The customer can call 1-877-487-2778 to hear a recorded message.
