Requirements for Registering as a Contractor:
ALL CONTRACTORS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE CITY OF PLANTATION. Person signing permit applications must be qualified in accordance with (302.1C) the rules of the Broward County Central Examining Board, Ordinance No. 78-9 and Chapter 9 of the Broward County Codes; the State of Florida, Department of Professional Regulations by authority of Chapter 489, Part One of the Florida Statutes, or other Examining Boards as specifically approved by the Board of Rules and Appeals.
- All contractors must submit a current certificate of insurance for general liability and workers compensation listing the City of Plantation as the certificate holder (minimum amount of insurance coverage required as per Florida Statutes). The certificate must reflect the exact name of the business, individual, fictitious name or d/b/a, if any. It should also include the mailing address, policy number and effective dates. The insurance certificate must include a policy number; we will not accept a Pending or TBA status.
- If business/individual is exempt from worker’s compensation, submit a copy of the approved worker’s comp exemption from the State of Florida’s Department of Labor.
- All contractors must submit a copy of their current licenses (state certified license or state registered license along with Broward County competency license, whenever applicable, etc.)
- The licensing and insurance certificate wording of the company and qualifiers name must be the same.
